Mission Statement

"To maintain ourselves as the specialists in the field of manual welding for the Heavy Engineering Sector"

Since 1990 the company has invested heavily in the development of afloat repairs and maintenance on board vessels which are still operational.  This has lead to Cimpina carrying out many onboard projects both above and below the water-line.

  • Some examples are: -

  •    Structural repairs and modifications both in steel and Aluminium (including wet deck areas using habitats)

  •     Hull corrosion repairs using water backed welding techniques.

  •     Aluminium Helideck refurbishment

  •     Pipe-work repairs and installation both in carbon and stainless steels.

  •     Water Jet repairs.

Much of Cimpina’s success is due to the Company’s attitude and commitment to its employees.  By constantly training and adding value to each individual, Cimpina has developed a dynamic, balanced and vibrant skilled workforce.  Our welders are multi-coded over a range of processes (MMA/TIG/MIG) and on a variety of metals such as Aluminium, Stainless Steel and Carbon Steels.

As technology develops Cimpina advances with it – both in terms of equipment and new joining technologies.  Cimpina uses the latest state of the art Digital Imaging System.  This system allows digital records of all projects before, during and after completion to be transmitted, via a secure server, to off-site clients throughout the world.

Cimpina’s workforce holds in excess of 45 welder certifications in over 16 welding procedures:

  • ASTM A216,

  • AWS A351,

  • AWS A217,

  • FONDINOX UNS 31254 & 31803,

  • ASTM A487 & A494,

Cimpina’s step by step process

Step One: - A member of Cimpina’s management team will visit, if required, the client’s premises at an early stage to help qualify the customer's needs. At this stage Cimpina will produce detailed sketches and photographs of the job in hand, to ensure correct final designs are created.  Often Cimpina can provide sources for technical information that the client requires as part of their scope of work to their customer. Considerable cost and time savings can be made if the client is able to use one of Cimpina’s approved procedures.

Step Two: - Cimpina make various new designs or alterations to help solve the customers problems.

These sketches are fully dimensioned and labeled accordingly and are presented to the customer. Along with the final design drawings, the customer will receive a full quote for the work to be carried out. Not only will this quote include the work carried to be completed by Cimpina, it will also outline the testing and certification needed to comply with Industrial Regulations and Insurance needs.

Step Three: - Once the customer is satisfied with the final designs, Cimpina can begin fabrication and production. Some of the fabrication can be carried out at Cimpina's works, and fitted onsite to reduce customer disruption and production downtime. Due to our long establishment in the heavy engineering sector, Cimpina has wide access to all materials, consumables. plant & equipment required to complete a wide range of different jobs. During Cimpina's fabrication and installation processes, inspectors from the customers company, insurance companies and classification examiners can be on hand to ensure the work is carried out the very highest standard possible to meet regulations.

This removes the hassle from the client and can be more cost effective i.e.

· Not having to buy full sheets and lengths of materials

· Not having to chase up test certificates from suppliers

· Not having to calibrate plant and equipment before the test

Valuable in-house down time can be saved if the test is carried out at Cimpina’s premises.

It removes the logistical problems of having to schedule and co-ordinate the examiners and testing labs as well as all the paperwork that follows, relating to the test.
